GETTING STARTED
Need help setting up and participating in the beta? This thread serves as a quick guide on how to install and play the game. If you have questions, please feel free to post them in the forum. We'll keep on updating this thread for any new information. Thank you!

What is Legends of Callasia?
What we're making is a turn-based fantasy world conquest game for PC, Mac, and mobile tablets (iPad or Android). Our hope is to make a mid-core casual game that captures some of the fun of more epic strategy games like Civilization, Crusader Kings, or Heroes of Might and Magic, but in a much smaller, more digestable 1 hour play session.

RE: GETTING STARTED
HOW TO PLAY

Starting the Game
  1. On the Start screen, select a game mode: Campaign, Skirmish, or Multiplayer.
    • Tutorial: Play the tutorial to learn the basics of the game. (still polishing during beta)
    • Campaign: Play in single-player mode and complete quests. (not available during beta)
    • Skirmish: Play against AI in the map and duration of your choice.
    • Multiplayer: Play online with your friends.
  2. Select Map. Your chosen map will determine the number of players, the map size, and map terrain.
  3. Select Race. Each race has a set of units with different tactical powers (melee, missile, or magic) as well as ATT/DEF properties. During the game, you can purchase more units for your armies.
  4. Select Heroes. You can choose four heroes that you can play during the game. At the start of the round, you will have a starting amount of 300 gold. You can use this to awaken your heroes. Each hero has different characteristics: ATT/DEF properties, units, victory points, and number of turns to recover (if they are defeated in battle), and other special traits.
  5. Click/tap Play to proceed to the Lobby where you can view the list of players and finalize the game options such as duration and difficulty.
  6. Awaken your starting hero, which will appear in your starting city. You can choose one of your heroes or more and awaken them anytime if you have enough resources. If your hero lost during battle, you need to wait a number of turns before you can summon them again. You can only awaken them at cities/castles that you own. The territory color will indicate which player owns that land.
  7. Hold click/tap and drag a hero to move it around and start conquering lands, which have equivalent victory points. The first one to occupy all the territories, or has the most victory points at the end of the round, wins!

Movement and Hero Commands
  1. Click/tap on your hero to view more information.
  2. Move a hero by dragging the hero icon to an adjacent territory.
  3. Heroes stack up when there are more than one of them in a territory. To expand them, click/tap on the blue "+" button, then click/tap on the blue "-" button to restack them.
  4. When viewing hero information, choose from a variety of actions:
    • Hire – hire, upgrade, or unlock units for your armies
    • Organize – exchange units between heroes, cities and occupied lands
    • Occupy – put a territory under player control
    • Raze – collect a large sum of resources from owned territories, with the cost of making the land unable to produce for a number of turns
    • Guard – give a defense bonus for that turn
    • Teleport – allows your Hero to teleport from one city to another
  5. Heroes stack up when there are more than one of them in a territory. To expand them, click/tap on the blue "+" button, then click/tap on the blue "-" button to restack them. You can exchange units between heroes in the same territory by selecting Organize.
  6. Click/Tap "End Turn" after choosing your commands. Note that you will be unable to change your commands after doing this, so be careful! During multiplayer games, you will only have a limited time to decide.

City Commands and Building Structures
  1. You can also click/tap on the city marker and select the crown button to view the City menu where you can awaken heroes, hire units, or upgrade your city.
    • Heroes: Select an inactive hero and click/tap Awaken.
    • Hire Units: Purchase additional units for your city, or for your hero if they are on the same territory. Select Organize to exchange units. Each unit type has different tactical powers, ATT/DEF properties, and costs. Some units may only be unlocked by building a specific structure. Available units will depend on your selected race.
    • City Upgrades: These upgrades will boost your city's ATT/DEF properties. Meanwhile, the Portal will allow you to teleport heroes to other cities that you own.
  2. Additional commands are available at territories that you own. Click/tap the Build button to build structures that can boost your land's victory points and also unlock new units. Every turn the number of units increase, and you can transfer them to your heroes using the Organize command.
      Structure 1
    • Hamlet: Gives additional resources and additional stack limit
      Upgrades to:
    • Village: Increases unit stack limit.
    • Town: Increases unit stack limit.
      Structure 2
    • Tower: Boost attack attributes of territory and allows you hire Basic units (class A and B).
      Upgrades to:
    • Fortress: Unlocks and allows you to hire Advanced units (class C and D).
    • Citadel: Unlocks and allows you to hire Epic units (class E and F).
      Structure 3
    • Dolmen: Adds 20 Victory Points.
      Upgrades to:
    • Cromlech: Adds 40 Victory Points.
    • Stone Circle: Adds 60 Victory Points.
      Structure 4
    • Portal: Allows Heroes to use the Teleport action to permit instant movement to another city.

Cards
  1. Each turn, you are given a card which will appear on the lower right corner of the screen. You may collect up to five (5) cards at a time.
  2. To use a card, just click/tap and drag it to the territory that you would like to use it on. Some cards require gold before you can use it.
  3. Cards may be used to boost your troops ATT/DEF properties, build structures and more.

Battles
  1. Some territories have enemies occupying them. You can engage them into battle by moving your hero to that territory.
  2. Heroes will engage in battle for every turn until one side flees or is defeated. The remaining hero is free to occupy that territory.
  3. Players can also engage their opponent's structures. If the siege is successful, you can occupy the territory (which takes more than one turn to complete) and use the structure to your advantage.
